LinkedIn is a business oriented social networking site. It is a website that is mainly used for professional networking. This website has more then 65 million user worldwide, which is half of the United States population. There are about 11 million users in Europe. India is the fastest growing country that is beginning to use LinkedIn as a major part of their lives. Some features of the website are a contact network is built up consisting of a persons direct connections, it can be used to help a person find jobs, and employers can list jobs and search for potential candidates. There is a mobile version of LinkedIn that was launched recently in 2008.
There are many positive aspects to LinkedIn. It can help people who are unemployed find a job, which allows that person to support their family. Alumni can see and understand the ways in which they are connected to other alumni in the group. Anyone can participate in the website, no matter whom they are or where they live. Finally, it also a connection channel for students and alumni.
Some negatives of LinkedIn are there is no communication functionality on the site. There are not as many negatives on this website as some of the other ones because it is a little harder for people to directly connect with each other and therefore there is less cyber bullying on this website. It is not primarily used for sharing you ever move and pictures of yourself.
